10 Things You Might Not Know About Me

8.29.2012
I really like the idea of my clients knowing me as a person, not just "the photographer". It makes it so much easier for me to take natural looking portraits of my clients if they feel comfortable and at ease around me... In my experience, to feel comfortable around a person you need to know a few things about them. So, in order for my clients to get to know me a little better I decided to do a "10 Things You Might Not Know About Me" post for the fun of it...  So, here ya go!

10 Things You Might Not Know About Courtney

1. I sing with my family (almost) every weekend. We sing Gospel music and I absolutely LOVE it. (Ok, I realize alot of people know this detail about me, BUT I am starting to book alot more clients that I don't know... So, this is for all of my new clients)

2. I'm TRYING to learn how to sew (via online tutorials). I have made a pillow, a bunting banner, and a few other things. I'm going to attempt a skirt soon... Ha!

3. I love being creative with fashion. I like taking an item in my closet and mixing it with something different and making an entire new outfit. I am of the philosophy that you can wear the same top 7 different ways and no one will ever know it's the same top. (Belt it, tuck it, layer it etc.)

4. My life schedule is on my iPhone. If I were ever to lose it then I would have no idea what's going on (or where I'm singing that weekend).

5. I met my husband Michael when I was 14 years old at a youth convention. We crushed over each other for several years, and he was my first date, first kiss, etc. :) and ONLY guy I've ever kissed I might add. I knew from very young that I wanted to marry him, and now we have been happily married for a little over a year.

6. I never was an exercise person that much until after I got married. I enjoy running occasionally, and love to play tennis with my husband. We have already played 3 times this week. ;) Oh, and I can beat him too.

7. I'm allergic to peanuts/peanut butter. I didn't find out until early this year... It causes me to lose my voice severely, but thankfully I've only gotten hives once. I don't even have to tell you how much I loved peanut butter. Nutella has become my new substitute.

8. I love to cook and bake. I don't like to make the same recipes very often... So, I'm constantly trying something new.

9. I'm a tight wad with myself when it comes to money. It's like a game to me to see how little I can spend. Haha.

10. I am extremely happy and content with my situation in life. I'm married to the man of my dreams and living the best of both worlds with my career/careers (traveling worldwide singing, and loving my photography business at home)

  3. Courtney,
You are an amazing young woman!! I'm with you on #9....I play this game all of the time.
We were hoping to see your family on Sept.8, but the afternoon concert was sold out when I remembered to call for tickets. :( We can't leave mom late and won't be able to do the evening concert.
Take care and keep singing for Jesus.
    Joyfully,
    Diana Metz

  6. Courtney -

Out of curiosity...what Canon model do you use? I am researching DSLRs and have my eye set on a Canon 60D...and after following your beautiful photography blog for a while, curiosity has compelled me to ask which camera you use. :) Also, what lenses do you prefer?

I love your photography style and the way you set up your scenes - so creative. Looking forward to more pictures!

  7. Taylor, I have the 50D (but I'm looking to upgrade soon...) :) The 60D looks like a great camera!

  8. Thanks Courtney for answering - you do a spectacular job with the 50D. :) It'll be fun to see what you upgrade to. (I finally took the dive and my 60D is on the way...wahoo!).

Keep up the great work. Blessings!
